KSSSA: St. Anthony’s Kitale Knocked Out by Minnows Kabarnet Boys

Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) multiple champions St. Anthony’s Kitale  will not grace this year's term two national games tournament scheduled to begin on September 8.

The football powerhouse were bundled out at the Rift Valley region final played at Nakuru High School by minnows Kabarnet Boys High School.

Kabarnet boys won the match 7-6 on post-match penalties after the two teams played to a barren draw at the end of regulation time.

St. Anthony’s, who are nicknamed the Solidarity Boys made it to the finals thanks to a 4-3 penalties over rivals Laiser Hill from Kajiado County.

St. Anthony’s is not the only giant that failed to qualify for the national school games. Some of the other popular teams that were knocked out include Kakamega High School’s Green Commandos and Dagoretti High.

Kakamega High School were eliminated at the semi-finals by little-known Mwitoti Mixed secondary school during the Western region finals.

Upper Hill, Nyakach girls, Kamukunji, and Barding High schools will also be missing during this year’s edition.

In the girls category, former national champions Wiyeta girls secondary school booked their national ticket thanks to a 5-1 thrashing of Itigo girls.

The Kipsaina-based learning institution hammered Kaptubos secondary school 16-0 on their way to the final while Itigo saw off  Moi Girls High school, Eldoret 6-0.

Besides football, other games that will be played at the term games include rugby (both 7s and 15s), handball, and volleyball.
