Seven-time Formula 1 champion, Lewis Hamilton, has sent a good luck message to world record marathon holder, Eliud Kipchoge, ahead of the Berlin Marathon.

Kipchoge is set to take part in the Belin Marathon on Sunday, September 25, as he looks to go beyond his limit and break his own world record of 2:01.39.

Hamilton praised Kipchoge for his efforts of pushing himself beyond the limits. The 37-year-old broke the world record in 2018 in Berlin.

“Hi Eliud, I just wanted to send you a message wishing you all the best in your future endeavours. I know you have a huge target at the Berlin Marathon.

“I am really inspired by how you continue to push and show that there are no limits except the ones we put in our minds. Keep dreaming and good luck,” Hamilton stated.

Kipchoge faces tough competition from Ethiopian Guye Adola, who is the winner of the 2021 edition, in Kipchoge's absence.

The two last met in the 2017 edition with Kipchoge taking the day to win his second title. The Kenyan legend has emerged victorious in all their meetings.

On September 8,  the 2022 BMW Berlin Marathon organisers announced that this year's medals will have an image of Kipchoge’s face in honour of his passion and dedication to the sport.

This will be the third time when the organisers will be honouring Kipchoge in such a way in the history of the Berlin Marathon.

The first time his face was on the medal was six years ago after he won the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, Brazil. In 2021 he also appeared on the medals as an honour to him for breaking the record in 2018.
