Gor Mahia chairman Ambrose Rachier has asked K’Ogalo players to stop reporting the club to FIFA over nonpayment of salaries.

Rachier who was speaking during Gor Mahia’s meeting with sponsors on September 23 noted that it was not the clubs’ wish to refuse to pay what they owed the players.

He pointed out that Gor was facing some financial challenges that can be traced back to the onset of the pandemic.

“We have had various difficulties aggravated by Covid-19. It was never our intention to skip paying salaries, it is something beyond your control. We didn't have money to do so,” Rachier stated.

Gor is currently facing a transfer ban from the world football governing body FIFA for failing to honour their contractual obligations.

The 19-time Kenya Premier League(KPL) champions will only be able to sign new players as of January 2023.

Some of the players who have reported Gor to FIFA include Jackson Owusu, Shafik Batambuze, Dickson Ambundo and Malian goalkeeper Adama Keita.

FIFA instructed Gor to make the full payment inclusive of all applicable interest to Keita's bank account in the latest report from the world governing body.

K’Ogalo was warned that it risks facing more sanctions for failure to do so within 45 days.

On Friday, September 23, the club unveiled a new sponsor at a time when a number of its senior players had boycotted training due to the pending salaries.
