Gor Mahia FC fans held protests on Thursday, October 13, 2022, in Nairobi days after the club’s chairman Ambrose Rachier confessed that he was a member of freemason.

K’Ogallo fans assembled near Uhuru Park before marching towards Rachier's office where they deposited their petition demanding for the resignation of the long-serving chairperson.

They had placards with the words such as “Rachier leave us alone” and “Gor Mahia is not Freemason” written on them.

The fans had issued a notice concerning the peaceful demonstrations on October 11th that was signed by Judith Onyano, a former official and a die hard supporter of the multiple Kenya Premier League champions.

“As Gor Mahia fans, we will take part in the above event to distance ourselves and our beloved club from the chairman’s position of self-confessed Freemason membership.

“Gor Mahia FC is not part of Mr Rachier in his Freemasonry adventure and we wish to strongly condemn his continued association with the club after making such an admission that has cost us so much ridicule and public embarrassment.

“We shall congregate at Uhuru Park at 11 am, Thursday, October 10. Thereafter, we will take a procession along Valley road junction and deposit our petition for condemnation and resignation of the chairman at his Mayfair House office,” read part of the notice.

Rachier revealed during an interview on NTV that he was a Freemason member, one of the oldest fraternal organizations in the universe.

His revelations went viral on social media to an extent that Gor Mahia secretary general Sam Ocholla issued a press release distancing the club from the secret order.

Ocholla requested the fans to stay calm and wait for the club to communicate the way forward.

Gor Mahia is currently going on with its pre-season preparations ahead of the 2022/2023 Kenya Premier League (KPL) season.
