Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus is the most searched global personality in Kenya in 2022, according to a report released by Google on Thursday, December 8.

While releasing the report, Sharon Machira, Google’s Public Affairs and Communications manager in the region, stated that most Kenyans used the platform to find answers.

“Google’s 2022 year in search lists the moments, people, topics, events and places that captured Kenyans’ attention during the year.

“Especially off the back of an election, we saw people come to Google Search to find answers to their biggest questions,” she ended.

According to the list, Gabriel was closely followed by the Manchester United duo of Casemiro and Lisandro Martinez.

The other individuals who appeared in the trending global personalities list in the country this year include Russian President Vladimir Putin, Will Smith and his son Jaden Smith.

United Kingdom Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, who has Kenyan roots, Simon Leviev, Erik Ten Hag and Gabriel’s Brazilian teammate Raphinha also made it to the top 10 list.

Jesus was recently forced to leave Brazil’s camp at Qatar's FIFA World Cup tournament due to an injury.

The star signed for Arsenal in July 2022 from reigning Premier League champions Manchester City.

In the few months that he has been with the Gunners, Jesus has been a force to reckon with on and off the pitch.

Apart from the Global Personality list, Google also released the top 10 trending sports topics in Kenya in 2022.

African Cup of Nations (AFCON), FIFA World Cup and the UEFA Nations League were among the top three most searched topics.

The Ballon d’Or, Carabao Cup, Winter Paralympics, Community Shield, English Premier League and the Commonwealth Games schedule also appeared in the top 10 list.
