Famous comedian and media personality Daniel Ndambuki nick-named Churchill once had a dream of becoming a football commentator, according to ex-KBC sports presenter Jack Oyoo Sylvester.
In a recent interview, Sylvester narrated how Ndambuki’s aspirations of doing football commentary ended.
The legendary Swahili commentator revealed that he first did commentary alongside Churchill at the Ruaraka grounds.

“Because Ndambuki likes to make people laugh. Anytime he talks about a serious issue, individuals usually think he just wants to crack their ribs.
“However, my experience with Ndambuki is real. He wanted to become a football commentator.
“We were at the Ruaraka grounds, Tusker FC was playing either AFC Leopards or Gor Mahia, I can’t recall it well,” explained Sylvester.
He added that Churchill was hesitant to take the microphone after listening to his lightening fast commentary.
“I started commentating. You know my commentary is so fast, Ndambuki thought he could match the pace.
“After five minutes, I asked him if he was ready, but he told me to continue. I asked him the same question after 10, 15, and 20 minutes, but his answer was the same.
“In the 30th minute, I decided to hand him the microphone and told him he has to speak too,” he divulged.
Sylvester, who himself started his career as a teacher in the Nyanza region, disclosed that Churchill never lasted for 10 minutes at the commentary desk.
He stated that the current Classic 105 presenter handed him the microphone immediately after the ball got out of play.
However, despite the lack of luck in football commentary, Ndambuki went on to become one of the most successful media personalities in Africa.
His comedy programme, Churchill Show is currently a household name in the country.
Through the show, the Kitui-born celebrity has nurtured the careers of many Kenyan comedians including Eric Omondi, Francis Munyao (MC Tricky), and Herman Kago (Professor Hamo) among others.
