
The2023 Equator Rally will take place as scheduled, according to Kenya Motor Sports Federation (KMSF) Steering Committee member Surinder Thatthi.
In a previous statement from KMSF, the rally was indefinitely cancelled due to financial reasons.
After the intervention by the Ministry of Sports, it was reported that the event would go on since organisers were assured of the necessary support.

“Sikh Union Club has taken over the running of the Equator Rally and it is not postponed and will run on the dates allocated in Voi
“Our apologies to all thinking about this rally. It is on the same original dates as planned by African Rally Championship (ARC). Please come and we will try to give you the most enjoyable event,’ Surinder Thatthi commented.
On its part, FIA African Championship commended the officials for the efforts put in to ensure everything goes on as planned.
“Great news, thank you so much to all involved for the tremendous efforts made to ensure the running of this prestigious event on the ARC Calendar,” read the statement from ARC.
The Equator Rally is scheduled to take place from March 17 to 19 in Voi, Taita-Taveta County.
According to ARC, Clerk of Course Gurvir Bhabra and his team had completed 80 per cent of the event planning.
It was also noted that the organisers had communicated with FIA for approval of the changes made.
