She eased past Trondson, winning the match on straight sets of 6-0, 6 -4, and thus helped Auburn beat Belmont 6-1.
This is not the first time that the Mbaghati Primary School alumni has made an enormous contribution to Auburn.
She has been a joy to watch since making her debut for the Alabama-based higher learning institution.
Okutoyi’s coach Megan Falcon believes she and the rest of the squad have all the ingredients needed to up their game.
"We challenged our team in our first match because we were very disappointed after doubles.
“As they embraced being pushed, their level of tennis hinged on their mindset. When you choose to be in the right place, you will steadily improve throughout the day,” she ended.
Okutoyi is expected to play her next game on Saturday, February 25 against the University of North Florida.
