Renowned boxer Karim “Mtu Kazi” Mandonga will fight Kenyan international Daniel Wanyonyi on Saturday, March 18, in Nairobi.

This rematch comes barely two months after the vocal Tanzanian boxer demolished his Kenyan counterpart at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC) Tsavo ballroom.

Mandonga was scheduled to square it out with the United States-based Kenyan boxer Raymond Ochieng, nick-named King Kong, but changes were made after the latter failed to meet the requirements.

According to the Kenya Professional Boxing Commission secretary-general Frankline Imbenzi, Ochieng weighed more than the required standard.

Imbenzi further stated that the showdown would give Wanyonyi a chance to prove himself as one of the best boxers in the region.

"Wanyonyi has been training hard, and this is an opportunity for him to prove that he still is a prime boxer," Mozzartsport quoted Imbenzi

Other Kenyans scheduled to fight in the upcoming event include Nick Mwangi, Rayton Okwiri and Musa Mohamed’s sister Fatuma Zarika.

The opponents of the above boxers are yet to be confirmed. Before the duel with Wanyonyi, Mandonga is slated to fight his compatriot Ally Boznia in Moshi on Saturday, February 25.

Mandonga, one of the most talked about boxers in East Africa, took his preparations for both fights to a bush in his hometown of Morogoro.

In an interview with Tanzanian journalists, the boxer, who has become a household name due to his explosive interviews, disclosed that he has decided to develop a new technique called “Kantangaze”.

“Kantangaze” is a Swahili word that translates to “spread my name” in English.

“I have developed a new boxing technique called Kantangaze. When I beat my rival he must spread the news.

“If you fail to do so, it is either you contract a disease that can’t be cured or you lose your life,” commented Mandonga.
