The four replica African Cup of Nations trophies Ghana has won cannot be traced at their Federation’s Secretariat office.
These reports emerged from a popular sports show in Accra by Angel FM.
Ghana have been crowned African Champions on four occasions, in 1963, 1965, 1978, and 1982, but now don’t have anything to show for it.

“We want to win an AFCON but we can’t account for the four trophies that we have won because they are missing,” said a pundit on the show.
“Are we serious at all in this country? How can we even win another AFCON when the four trophies are missing?” he went on.
Yet another pundit, journalist Saddick Adams, claimed that he had made enquiries about the whereabouts of the trophies back in 2019.
This was in the run-up to the 2019 AFCON in Egypt, one which they were eliminated from in the Round of 16 by Tunisia.
“Before the 2019 AFCON, I asked questions about the four trophies that we have won and I was told that we lost the trophies during the Coup when the National Sports Council Office was ransacked,” said Adams.

Ordinarily, when a country wins an international trophy, they are handed the real trophy as they celebrate.
The original trophy is however replaced with a replica which can be retained by the winner in their trophy cabinet.
Ghana, in the meantime, yet again failed to add silverware onto their stable after dropping out of the just-ended 2021 AFCON at the Group Stage.
