The 2022 World Cup tournament will be played in Qatar with eight stadia acting as hosts of various matches.

Fatma Al Nuaimi, the Executive Communications Director of the SC earlier noted that the stadiums are in excess and will do some renovations after the tournament.

“In the end, we don’t need these many stadiums. We had these stadiums based on Fifa’s standard requirements. However, beyond that, it’s not much.

“What we made sure of, when we remove the upper tier, we fill it in with what is required for the community surrounding the stadiums.,” Al Nuaimi noted.

Another stadium that will also undergo transformation is the Lusail Stadium where the finals will be played. It will be transformed into a community space that will house schools, cafes, sporting facilities and health clinics.

The World Cup is scheduled to take place from Monday, November 21, to Sunday, December 18.
