Jorgelina Cardoso, Angel Di Maria’s wife, on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, disclosed the motivation behind the Argentine winger’s transfer from Spanish giants Real Madrid to Manchester United.
According to Cardoso, the lucrative contract offered to the pacey forward convinced Di Maria to sign with Machester United.
"Angel came to me that day and said, ‘look at this proposal from Manchester United'. I didn’t want to go, so I told him to go alone. He replied: ‘let’s go both of us’.

‘I told him, ‘no way, no way’, but he kept saying we will be a little more financially secure. We fought about it but we always try to be closer when things go wrong.
‘It was a lot of money, more than the Spaniards had offered. So, we went. If you work in a company and someone offers you double the salary, you run and accept the offer,” Cardoso stated as reported by Metro.
The University of Buenos Aires alumnus further divulged that her experience in Manchester was horrible.

“I didn’t like it at all. People were all weird and the food was disgusting.
“Angel and I were in Madrid, the best team in the world. Perfect food, and weather. Everything was perfect and then came United’s proposal,” added Cardoso.
Di Maria joined Manchester United in August 2014 after helping Argentina reach the FIFA World Cup final held in Brazil.
The Red Devils paid 59.7 million pounds (Approximately Ksh8.4 billion) to land his services. However, Di Maria struggled to impress and left Manchester United for Paris Saint Germain after only one season.
