Four-time Kenya Premier League winning coach Robert Matano is a disappointed man after his side Tusker FC was locked out of the 2022/2023 Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champions League due to the existing FIFA ban.
Matano argued that Kenyan football is being destroyed by individuals with selfish interests.
"We should leave aside pride and arrogance. What is destroying our football is selfishness because everyone wants something and no one wants to compromise.

"The current people managing football do not have the passion to manage the game. They don’t want to manage football in a good way," Matano told Capital Sports.
He added that they were disappointed in failing to represent the country in the continental showpiece.
“It is not good for us because we worked so hard to win the league and represent the country but it was not possible because of the confusion that is there in Kenyan football.
"We should solve the issues quickly enough because we are losing a lot of time," lamented Matano.

Tusker qualified for the CAF Champions League after winning the closely contested 2021/2022 FKFKPL campaign.
The Ruaraka-based side amassed 66 points to top their close rivals Kakamega Homeboyz FC on goal difference.
In the coming season, the club will only play in the local league after Kenya was banned by the world governing body in February 2022 due to government interference with football affairs.
The cabinet secretary for sports, Ambassador Amina Mohamed, appointed a transition committee to run the league after Football Kenya Federation (FKF) president Nick Mwendwa was ousted for misappropriation of public funds.
