
Kenyan teenager sensation Angella Okutoyi produced a spectacular display to beat Germany international Carolina Kuhl at the ongoing 2022 US Open Grand Slam tennis tournament.
The 18-year-old who entered the match as an underdog won her junior singles category by hammering Kuhl in straight sets of 7-6, 7-5.
Kuhl was the favorite going into the match since she had beaten Okutoyi at the JA Cape town tournament last year by straight sets of 6-2, 6-3. She was also ranked higher than Angella.

Okutoyi will now battle it out with Taylah Preston of Australia in the second round. Preston had to dig deep to beat Alyssa Ahn in the tie breaker. Their match ended 2-1 (6-0, 3-6, 6-1).
Okutoyi went straight to the US after winning a girls doubles tournament in Ottawa, Canada.
The former Kenya Open champion won the J1 Repentigny girls doubles tournament alongside her polish partner Malwina Rowinska.
The duo walloped Belgium's Amelia Waligora and Germany's Ella Seidel 2-1 (3-6, 6-2, 10-8) to clinch the title.

Okutoyi, who was raised by her grandmother has enjoyed fine form this season producing brilliant results in the tournaments that she has taken part in.
The rising starlet who looks up to American legend Serena Williams reached the second round of the French Open in May. Prior to that, Okutoyi had overcome all the odds to make it to the third round of the Australian Open.
She also made history in July this year when she became the first Kenyan to win a girls doubles title at the prestigious Wimbledon open.
